Who we are
Destined for Bali (destinedforbali.com) is a Thoughtgears publication. You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@thoughtgears.co.uk.
What we collect, and when
Reading this site requires no account and no personal details. The data that may be processed while you browse:
- Analytics (consent-based). We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides people read. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are set only if you consent through the privacy message shown on your first visit; if you decline, we receive only aggregated, cookieless signals that don't identify you.
- Advertising (consent-based). We show ads via Google AdSense — see the advertising section below.
- Hosting logs. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses transiently to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is handled by our newsletter provider (Substack) under their own privacy policy — we don't store it ourselves.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you ads tailored to your interests; with your consent, ads may be personalised, and without it only non-personalised ads are shown. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and read how Google uses data from sites like ours at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cookies and your consent
If you're visiting from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message (Google's certified consent management platform) appears before any advertising or analytics cookies are set. You can consent, decline, or manage individual purposes — and change your mind at any time:
Consent settings apply to visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — outside those regions there's nothing to manage.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you book or buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partners don't receive personal data from us — the link simply tells them which site referred you. It never affects what we recommend.
Your rights
Under the UK and EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time (using the button above, or your browser's cookie controls). To exercise any of these, email support@thoughtgears.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
